WHAT'S HAPPENING

Community Ministry

Following the teaching of Jesus, we at Northwest feel a strong desire to reach out to everyone in our community. We endeavor to have an impact on people’s lives by addressing some of their physical needs, while understanding the importance of meeting spiritual needs as well.

Community Ministries is a wonderful mission field because it gives us a chance to meet people where they are and to share our joy and hope with them.

Community Ministries has several on-going teams, including:

Emergency Food Pantry

Our Emergency Food Pantry partners with Hunger Task Force and the 211 service in Milwaukee County to provide food to residents of the 53222 and 53225 zip codes. Hunger Task Force delivers food to us on the first Wednesday of each month. We distribute the food to individuals and families each Wednesday from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Reading for Success Program

Children are our future – they are tomorrow’s leaders and our hope for a better world. The Reading for Success Program partners with MPS’ Ralph Waldo Emerson Elementary School located at 91st & Congress St. to provide tutoring in reading. Emerson teachers refer children in their classrooms to our program. We tutor children in the classrooms at Northwest Baptist Church on the 2nd & 4th Wednesdays from 5-6 p.m.

Back 2 School Rally

Children are our future – they are tomorrow’s leaders and our hope for a better world. The Back2School Rally is the methodology we use to collect cash donations, back packs and school supplies to help those children in our community who most require this type of assistance. Donations are distributed to children, Kindergarten through 12th grade in the community.
