Title: How to Change Your Mind.

Theme: A “next step” in spiritual growth often involves the renewal of our minds.  So, this sermon looks to apply the concept of “VIM” – Vision, Intention, and Method – to how God can renew or change our minds, especially as we immerse ourselves in Scripture.

Title: Making Ordinary Days ExtraOrdinary.

Theme: The first half of the sermon will revisit and further explain “next steps” in spiritual growth, by means of the acronym, “VIM” – Vision, Intention, and Method (an acronym that will have already been introduced on April 22).  Here, it will be stressed: that “the” vision is to live life in relationship with Jesus Christ; and, that “the” intention is “I will live life with Jesus no matter what.”  The second half of the sermon will explore what actually living this out – for one day – on Monday, May 7, 2012 – might look like.  That is, the latter half of the sermon will consider some of the ”methods” or “practices” we could take, in order to live in relation with Jesus – in a concrete way, from the moment we wake up . . . until the moment we go to sleep at night – during a regular, ordinary day).

Title: How to be Alone with God.

Theme: In our prayer life, taking “next steps” can involve more fully connecting with God: (1) by intentionally setting aside a time and a place to be alone with the Lord; and, (2) by following the method of prayer that Jesus sets forth in “The Lord’s Prayer.”

Title: There’s Always a Next Step.

Theme: Spiritual growth involves “VIM” – Vision, Intention, and Method.  “Vision” involves allowing Jesus to give us a dream of spiritual growth.  “Intention” includes making a decision to pursue the vision that Jesus gives us.  “Method” means the practical steps (or the disciplines) involved in carrying out Jesus’ vision for us – not in any way that we might want to – but in the way that Jesus would have us do so.

Title: Facing the Demons of Defeat: Why God Allows Good People to Fall.

Theme: If you want God’s maximum protection on both you and your entire life – then you will have to be willing to give Him your all. (based on :  “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7) )

Furthermore, they will learn more about world hunger issues, do service projects around Milwaukee, and spend time in prayer (all while experiencing hunger first-hand).

Theme: Is the resurrection just a metaphor or truly a miracle?

• Michael Johnathon: author, playwright, composer, singer/songwriter (with 10 albums to his credit), and the founder of the WoodSongs Old-Time Radio Hour.
• Macyn Taylor: an accomplished guitar player and vocalist, performing since she was 7 years old, playing a variety of music styles, featuring acoustic finger-style, americana, folk, and the blues.
